Our Musical Love Interest

This story deserves a little explanation, so I'm going to back up about two weeks ago to Valentine's Day...

I was trying to come up with something sweet I could do for Aaron for V-day and was coming up blank. Even after searching Pinterest I was completely lost. So after some brainstorming with my bestie, Alexa, I had it: a "14 hours of Valentine's" project where he'd open little gifts (favorite candies, chapstick, etc.) every hour on the 14th minute. (I got my inspiration for it here.) Sappy right? But Valentine's Day is the one day a year I can do that and get away with it. I must say, it was HARD coming up with 14 little gifts to give him. I wish I had pictures cause it was super cute but I'll just list some of the things I came up with...

1. Conversation hearts (he LOVES those)
2. Peeps
3. Mexican candy
4. Chapstick (I got the raspberry lemonade kisstix at Macey's cause we always joke about them)
5. A kite from the dollar store
6. Dinner
7. A coupon for tacos
8. Reeses
9. Valentine's salt water taffy
10. A grow a pet (since he won't let me forget how much he wants a dog...)

There were a few other ones too but I don't remember them all. I splurged a little and got him some concert tickets too. Any of you who know Aaron know that he loves We Are The In Crowd and I saw they were coming to town so I surprised him! He was ridiculously excited.

Which brings me to last night. The concert was awesome! It's been so long since Aaron and I have been to a concert together (last one we went to was our first date to 30 Seconds to Mars) so it was super fun to do it again. Every Avenue was headlining who we didn't know quite as well but it didn't matter, we were there for WATIC anyway. :)

One of the opening bands was really good too: Simple as Surgery. They are from Georgia and are super young! I think the lead singer said he was 19. Crazy.

Anyway, they were on their first U.S. tour so Aaron and I decided we were gonna be fans from the start. The second band, The Audition, sucked. They were crude and annoying but whatever. Then came WATIC and we were front row! (Aaron got a pick at the end of the set too! Benefits to being front row!)

We didn't stay for Every Avenue because we'd seen who we came to see and frankly, had we stayed any longer, we both would have been deaf (my ears are still ringing!) All in all, it was a great evening. And we've got another one coming up next month! (Aaron got me tickets to my favorite band, Cartel, for Valentine's Day.) Looking forward to more fun dates with my wonderful hubby!

One Year!

No, we haven't been married for a year, but we have been married for exactly 2 months! However this month we decided to celebrate something different. This month we wanted to celebrate the day that eventually led us to the happiest day of our lives—the day we started dating. This month has been filled with lots of tender memories remembering everything that went on when Aaron and I first met and started getting to know each other but it's been so much fun to reminisce! Remembering the day we met, the way we felt, the way everything between us changed, and watching it all fall into place was so exciting. But going back and re-watching everything in my mind now just makes me fall even deeper in love with Aaron AND our story.

For those of you who don't know, Aaron and I met in early September 2010 right before Labor Day weekend at a Root Beer Float party that our apartment complex was hosting. I had just gotten out of a relationship that had ended pretty badly and was NOT intending on getting involved with ANYONE. He, not having even been home for 3 months yet was pretty much in the same mind set. His plan was to get his associate degree and THEN start looking. Well, we see how well our own plans worked out. ;)

Over the next week we had fun hanging out, going to devotionals, jammin' together on our guitars, etc. but it wasn't until a week after we met that I started to realize my feelings for him and let me tell you, it TERRIFIED me. Falling for him was something I couldn't seem to help despite all my reservations and determination not to get involved with anyone. For some reason, everything felt so comfortable and right. Being with him was easy. I eventually told him about my reservations and why I was scared but he knew what he wanted. He asked if kissing me would be moving too fast but all I had to say to that was, "you can kiss me or not, either way it doesn't matter to me. But if you do, you better be 110% sure that's what you want 'cause if you kiss me, there's no going back." Lucky for me, he did kiss me and neither of us ever second-guessed his decision.

Forgive me for sounding like a mushy newly-wed but I truly believe every moment with him has been blissful and perfect. Sure, we have our moments like any couple, but we're just as in love today—if not more—than we were that day he first kissed me. <3

Happily Ever After

Wow! Well, it's been a while. (I'm not a very good blogger, I'll be honest.) I think my biggest problem is that I can never think of anything blog-worthy to write about. Or maybe it's just that I don't have internet at my house. :( Either way, I've kind of failed lately.

The wedding was amazing! Thank you so much to everyone who helped make it the PERFECT day! The weather was beautiful, lucky for us. You'd kind of expect July 15th to be nice and warm but we'd had downpours for several days the week of and week before so we were a little nervous.

Anyway, the whole day was wonderful and the honeymoon was just what we hoped it would be! For those of you that don't know, we went to Disneyland for our honeymoon.
We were easily shuttled from LAX to our hotel which was conveniently located about a mile away from Disneyland. We walked to and from the park while we were there, ate at little restaurants on the way and within the park itself (including Cheesecake Factory, and Blue Bayou) and took the bus to Newport Beach that Sunday.

 When we got back a week later, Aaron's parents picked us up at the airport and the next day we helped get everything ready for the Open House that night. All in all, it was a wonderful and beautiful experience, but we were glad to get back to the norm.

Since then, I'm still going to BYU majoring in Communications (Public Relations) with a minor in Spanish. I'm working on campus at BYU's Student Service Association (BYUSA) in their Communications department and at Staples in their copy center. Aaron is attending UVU and just changed his major to Sports Medicine. He's thinking about going into Physical Therapy or Sports Training. He works as a CNA at Summerfield Retirement Home where my grandpa lives. :)

In the end, everything's been wonderful. We've loved spending time with each other and loved getting settled in our new life together. Thanks again to everyone who came and supported us (and still support us). We love you all! More to come...
